Special Tasmanian events take place throughout the year.

Planning a trip to Tasmania? Check to see what events are of particular interest to you. Then plan your visit accordingly.

One of the most popular events is the :

Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race (Hobart)
When: Dates to be confirmed...

Australians across the country follow the Sydney to Hobart race. It's one of the things to do over the Christmas break.

It's hard for me to think about this event without recalling the tragedy of the 1998 Sydney to Hobart race. Hopefully we will never see that happen again.

Other popular events include:

Three Peaks Race (Multiple Venues)
When: Dates to be confirmed...

Australian Wooden Boat Festival (Hobart Waterfront)
When: Dates to be confirmed...

Targa Tasmania (Multiple Venues)
When: 19th to 24th April 2021

Agfest (Quercus Rural Youth Park, Carrick)
When: Dates to be confirmed...

Just in the short list above, you can see a range of events. There are races, special skills on display (wooden boat festival) and an exhibition relating to a whole industry (agricultural).

And these are just some of the events that you can be a part of, in Tasmania. There are so many others.

There are the always-popular markets featuring local products that you may not always be able to see at regular shops.

Not only that, the prices are usually good too. The most well-known market would be the Salamanca Market which you can visit on Saturdays in Hobart. Other market events include Devonport Farmers Market, Launceston Eskmarket and Burnie Farmers Market.

You can attend events which cater to a certain theme. For example - have you heard of the annual Hobart Doll Show? It is run by the Hobart Doll Club. On display are dolls hand-crafted by talented doll makers. You can see porcelain dolls, cloth dolls and teddy bears. Not only that, you can learn about the latest trends in dolls. Dolls are available for purchase as well.

Are you a beerlover? At the Tasmanian Beerfest you get to taste Tasmanian beers as well as beers from all over the world. Representatives from several breweries speak on the art of beer making. Plus you can find out more about beer and food matching. Even you beer experts might learn a thing or two!

Gardenfest is an opportunity to pick up great information and tips on everything to do with the garden. There is music and food available, plus children's activities too. You can bring the family!

You can find out more about these and other events at Events Tasmania, an official Tasmanian government website.
