Ever heard of the expression "in like Flynn"? Well we have Errol Flynn to thank for that!

As a child, I loved watching him in those old pirate movies. That's probably what he's most well-known for.

Born in Hobart in 1909, Flynn starred in more than 60 Hollywood movies of the 1930s and 1940s. He is well-known for his many romantic swashbuckling roles.

From a young age he showed himself to be quite enterprising. At age 20 he managed a tobacco plantation. He even became involved in a copper mining venture.

He always had a great love for the sea. He once owned a boat named The Sirocco. Towards the end of his life, he had a yacht named Zaca.

He had a reputation for being a ladies man, who enjoyed a hedonistic lifestyle. He actually referred to himself as the Tasmanian Devil in his autobiography named "My Wicked Wicked Ways".

Flynn's third wife, Patrice Wymore Flynn described him as "one of the most intelligent, tender, kind, thoughtful, contradictory rascals ever to walk this earth". Sounds like quite an amazing character!
