Devonport

Rating: 3 star

Price: From around AUD $125 for the room for the night

This accommodation got my attention because:

• a few minutes stroll gets you to the city centre
• it overlooks the Mersey River
• you get to see the Spirit of Tasmania pass by
• across the road are river walks and sea views
• rates include breakfast

Hawley Beach

Rating: 4 star

Price: From around AUD $150 for the room for the night

This accommodation got my attention because:

• it is an original homestead on a 150 hectare working estate
• there is a vineyard behind the building
• there is a wildlife reserve on the property
• it has a mountain backdrop
• it overlooks beaches

Sheffield

Rating: 3 star

Price: From around AUD $60 for the room for the night

This accommodation got my attention because:

• there is a well-preserved 1870s silver mine nearby
• there are views of nature all around
• right behind is Mount Roland which you can climb
• some of the top natural attractions of Tasmania (e.g. Cradle Mountain) are within 40 minutes drive
• it's only 10 minutes drive to Sheffield, the "Town of Murals"

Stanley

This accommodation got my attention because:

• there are views of Stanley, the Rocky Cape National Park and the surrounding beaches
• it's close to the Nut, a sheer-sided bluff from which you can enjoy more great views
• it's close to Stanley, a historic colonial fishing village, and still one of Tasmania's main fishing ports
• it's well placed for visiting many natural attractions such as Dismal Swamp, Dip Falls etc
• it's a multi-award winning property

This accommodation got my attention because:

• it used to house the Van Diemen's Land Company Store and has been transformed into a luxury boutique property
• there are only a few suites so it's great for a private romantic getaway
• it's a waterfront property
• it's close to all the wonderful attractions of Stanley (as mentioned for the Stanley Seaview Inn)
• it's won a number of awards

King Island

Rating: 4 star

Price: From around AUD $78 for the room for the night

This accommodation got my attention because:

• all villas are fully self-contained
• it overlooks the coast and Grassy Bay
• it's walking distance to the supermarket and restaurant
• the nightly "penguin parade" is just a 5 minute drive away
• it's a multi-award winning property

Please note that the above is not the only accommodation on the north west coast. I just wanted to provide a page that could at least be a starting point for you in your search for north west coast accommodation.
